Application Comparison of ADSS cable fittings and OPGW cable in wind farm

With the continuous development of wind power construction in China, a series of megawatt wind power bases have been built in North China. The construction of megawatt super large wind power bases in Hexi Corridor puts forward higher requirements for the construction scale of 35kV Power collection lines.

When OPCW optical cable and ADSS optical cable fittings are erected overhead along the collection line, they must have sufficient tensile strength to meet the mechanical requirements and thermal stability requirements in addition to meeting the communication requirements. The design shall comply with the provisions of code for design of 66kV and below overhead power lines (GB 50061-2010) and code for acceptance of power optical fiber communication engineering (dlt5344-2006).

Chemical weapon cable is mainly composed of cable core (optical fiber unit) containing optical fiber and metal strand (including aluminum clad steel wire, galvanized steel wire, aluminum alloy wire, hard aluminum wire, etc.). So far, there are hundreds of OPGW cable structures. At present, there are three typical structures (Figure 1, figure 3).

ADSS cable is mainly composed of core (fiber unit) reinforced aramid yarn (or other suitable materials) and outer sheath. Like OPGW cable, ADSS cable has two representative structures after several years of development and structural optimization.

It can be seen from the above that OPGW cable and ADSS cable fittings are basically similar in structure type, which are composed of optical fiber unit undertaking signal transmission and reinforcement unit undertaking mechanical strength. The difference is that the OPGW cable reinforcement unit material is metal wire, and the ADSS cable reinforcement unit material is aramid wire.

① In terms of optical performance, the forbidden chemical fiber optic cable and ADSS optical cable unit can meet the communication requirements of optical fiber transmission. Fiber dispersion, signal attenuation and transmission distance can meet the design requirements.

② According to the mechanical strength of the cable, ADSS cable has good icing overload capacity and continuous wave sag prohibition characteristics. Under the icing condition of 10 mm, the maximum sag of OPGW cable is less than 1.64-654 m of ADSS cable. At the same time, the vertical load, horizontal load and maximum service tension of OPCW cable are greater than those of AOSs cable. Therefore, OPGW cable is generally more suitable for the mountainous areas with large span and height difference.
